Eilean Donan

Eilean Donan Castle
Eilean Donan Castle, Scotland, September 1994

They say it's the most photographed castle in Scotland, and you can see why. Just a short stroll along the coast from the village where 'Hamish MacBeth' was filmed, and on the main road to the 'Skye Ferry' port, this beautifully located castle has featured in 'Highlander', defended the west coast from the vikings,  and been shelled by English warships during the Jacobite Rising in 1719. After a couple of centuries as a ruin, it was re-built by romantics in the early 20th century. And a damn good job they did too.
