April 1993, Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, Chilean Patagonia

The park rangers had warned me, never go anywhere alone, as there were pumas about, but it was a magnificent sunset, and I just knew I'd get a great photo from the top of the hill. A few minutes after taking this photo, I found out the park ranger was right. I learned two important lessons that day...

1. Don't dismiss the advice of experts lightly.
2. Large carnivores have right of way.
